digital accessibility and visual design
As the Senior Accessibility Designer at Generali Global Assistance, I lead accessibility initiatives to develop, implement, and test accessibility solutions aligned with PDF/UA, WCAG, and EU consumer protection directives.
As part of the enterprise design team at Advance Digital, I worked with more than 30 newspapers throughout the United States, including The Oregonian, The Star-Ledger, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, and the The Times-Picayune. You can see some of my work below or at newspagedesigner.com. Before joining the enterprise team, I was the creative director for non-profit news pioneer Voice of San Diego and previously designed covers and special projects for Arizona's two largest newspapers.
I am a strong believer in life-long learning and have completed professional certifications in UX/UI, Authoring Accessible Documents, and The Creative Process. I also have a B.A. in journalism and an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction.
I'm proud to work from the great state of California, and grateful to work with folks throughout the country and abroad. If you'd like to get in touch, please feel free to drop me a line at jlcieslak@gmail.com or find me on any of the social media platforms at the bottom of this page.
